We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Technology, to join a leading third-party logistics provider in Indianapolis, IN. This is an in-office leadership position based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Therefore, the Vice President of Technology must currently reside in the greater Indianapolis area. This position requires approximately 35% travel within the US and Canada.


The Vice President of Technology is a business-first executive responsible for developing and executing the organization's enterprise technology strategy while transforming Technology into a strategic business partner that enables growth, innovation, operational excellence, and digital transformation. This leader will align technology investments with business objectives, modernize the technology organization, and build an AI-enabled technology ecosystem that delivers measurable business value.


This is not a traditional infrastructure-focused IT leadership role. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Vice President of Technology will partner closely with Operations, Sales, Solutions Design, Finance, Human Resources, and other business leaders to ensure technology serves as a competitive advantage for the organization. Success requires a highly visible executive who balances strategic vision with hands-on execution, builds strong relationships across the business, and drives meaningful organizational transformation.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and execute the enterprise technology strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization's long-term business objectives and growth initiatives.
  • Transform Technology from a reactive support function into a proactive, business-embedded organization that delivers measurable business value.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing technology organization by attracting, mentoring, and retaining top talent while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Assess and optimize the technology organization, leadership structure, and talent to support future growth while maintaining operational continuity.
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify opportunities where technology, AI, automation, and data-driven decision-making improve operational performance, customer experience, and business outcomes.
  • Develop and execute the enterprise technology roadmap across applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud platforms, enterprise architecture, data, integrations, and business intelligence.
  • Lead enterprise digital transformation initiatives, including technology modernization, organizational change, acquisitions, and systems integration.
  • Build strong relationships with Operations by spending time in field locations to understand business processes and identify opportunities for technology-enabled improvements.
  • Partner with Sales and Solutions Design during strategic customer engagements to demonstrate technology capabilities and position technology as a competitive differentiator.
  • Establish governance, prioritization, and investment strategies that align technology initiatives with business priorities and deliver measurable return on investment.
  • Ensure secure, reliable, and scalable technology operations through effective cybersecurity, risk management, compliance, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership by providing strategic insight into emerging technologies, enterprise risks, and technology investments.
  • Drive organizational change through transparent communication, collaboration, and executive leadership while ensuring business continuity throughout transformation initiatives.

 

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive technology leadership experience with responsibility for enterprise applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, data platforms, integrations, business intelligence, and enterprise technology delivery.
  • Demonstrated success developing AI strategies, digital transformation initiatives, and enterprise-wide technology transformation within complex organizations.
  • Experience aligning technology strategy with business strategy and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience redesigning technology organizations and developing high-performing leadership teams, preferably within organizations with multiple physical locations and distributed operations.
  • leading large-scale enterprise business application environments that support core business operations. This may include ERP, WMS, TMS, HRIS/HCM, CRM, Business Intelligence, financial systems, cloud-based applications, data and analytics platforms, or other mission-critical enterprise technologies.
  • Excellent executive communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
  • Experience building or upgrading teams, clarifying roles, recruiting external talent, developing internal talent, and managing performance through change.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and between the United States and Canada.


Preferred: 


  • Advanced degree or executive education in Business, Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience within a large, complex enterprise environment.
  • Experience leading technology integration during mergers, acquisitions, or business expansion.
  • Background supporting industries with significant operational footprints, such as supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, distribution, retail, healthcare, or other multi-site organizations.
  • Experience participating in executive-level customer presentations and strategic business development initiatives.
